Cringe-worthy!

Kristina, on July 15, 2018 at 7:46 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 38
A friend of mine is getting married the same day as me. She’s posted multiple statuses to her Facebook regarding RSVPs (even though not all of her friend list is invited) and her latest one states that if they don’t hear from people by tomorrow, their RSVP date, they’re proceeding as if those people aren’t coming.

I hope no ones got lost in the mail.....

Anyone else see some Wow-worthy things other people are doing that make you cringe a little?

When your whole college friend group is not only at the wedding, but in the BP. And you weren’t even invited ... that one stung.

I made a few posts about my FSIL and her wedding. Everything worked out and it was so beautiful but oh boy it was cringey leading up to it. Self catered, outside in 50 degree weather, and just so many other things. And she would post about it aaaaaallllllllll the time!! “So ready for the wedding!! Just hope our food stays warm” “oh my goodness you guys are gonna be sooooo cold at our wedding! Hope you don’t mind!” “So Sarah (me. And I’m her fb friend so I saw this) is doing all our floral arrangements. Sorry if they’re ugly!!” It was almost like she was bragging about how terrible it was going to be. Like I said though everything turned out BEAUTIFULLY and I was darn proud of my centerpieces that lasted 2 minutes before the wind blew everything over!

Omg that’s awful! I’m so sorry Smiley sad

all of my college group is in my bridal party too and I have a secret fear that my next friend, who is getting married in May, will ask everyone but me to be in the party too. Might just be my anxiety but the fear is real, and I’d be hurt!

Sounds like she wanted attention and the blame to be off of her if it did turn out poorly. How distasteful! And what an awful thing to say about your floral arrangements!!!

She ended up loving them. They just wouldn’t stay up because of the wind (I even put rocks in the vases to make them heavier) the day was truly lovely and she’s helping me a lot with planning my day. I love her to bits now that the wedding is over!

I don’t have any pictures of the centerpieces because the wind knocked them over before the photographer got any pictures

Adding that in the beginning I was pretty cringey too. I used to post on the daily about the wedding. Just little stuff like “finally chose the colors!” And “NOVEMBER CANT COME WUICK ENOUGH) FH posted SECONDS after we got engaged. Before we even told my parents. I said “don’t post anything about it until we tell the people who are close to us.” He texted his parents and before they responded he changed his status. I was so annoyed!! Especially since we are SO young (22 and 21) I just wanted to enjoy the engagement before we got the backlash that I knew we’d get.

The best ones I've seen are from a woman having a month and a half long engagement. She keeps posting things like "If you want to come to my wedding let me know" or "who's planning on coming" like she's planning a child's birthday party lol.

There's an old co-worker of mine making FB cringey posts leading up to her engagement. She was constantly tagging him in wedding related stuff and proposal videos. It made me feel bad for him how she was kinda pressuring him publicly. They got engaged and now all posts are :WHO WANTS TO COME TO THE WEDDING?!?" And at least five posts a day regarding wedding stuff.
I'm totally psyched to get married too, but I come here on WW to get it all out. Knowing I can't invite all extended family I wish I could afford the wedding to have I think its rude for me to post nonstop on social media about my wedding.

I got an e-STD with a RSVP section that said "to help us better plan the wedding, please RSVP below"

This one girl on my friend's list keeps posting asking for reccommendations for venue, dj, etc. on her public wall meanwhile she is part of the local bride group. Maybe that example is more odd and public than cringeworthy!

I had a FB friend ask for suggestions on the best way to collect all the addresses for invitations. Someone suggested just making a FB post asking for addresses. I kindly told the commenter that could lead to an unnecessary misunderstanding and hurt feelings by asking for addresses so publicly when the girl may or may not plan on inviting everyone that replies. She basically told me I was an idiot and that if people got mad they could get over it because they shouldn't expect to be invited just because they posted their address...

This isn’t me directly, but we had some family over for
my mom’s birthday during Memorial Day weekend and my cousin told us all about this wedding she was a bridesmaid in in the fall. Just some highlights:

    - the wedding party spent the entire day before setting up for the wedding and the bride and groom didn’t even offer to pay for their lunch, they had to order their own pizza.
    - during the wedding, the bride was walking around asking who could stay to help clean up.
    - the bride asked my uncle to go upstairs, get more pepperoni, and pass it out. Mind you, she’s not close to my aunt and uncle, they were invited because they’re her best friend’s parents.

Those are the highlights. And a good reminder of why this forum is so useful. My cousin was sitting in my living room seven months after this wedding telling a group of 12 of us how awful it was. That’s not what you want to happen after your wedding!

That's the mark of a truly insecure person. I hope you ignored that.

Well at least it has a happy outcome! I'm super interested to see this friend of mine's wedding. We aren't super close, met in school and kinda remained friends on FB, but she's done so many cringe-worthy things over facebook!

OMG what???? lmfao that's NOT how things work! It boggles my mind sometimes how...out of touch with reality people are.

I was laughing for a good two hours one day cause I got a FB notification for an event titled "Name and name's wedding!" And I was like, huh?

#1- This was a friend from high school that I haven't spoken to since we graduated. And I BARELY talked to her in high school, it was mostly in middle school and then we went with different crowds.

#2- The event page was to ask for addresses AND actually invite people. Idk why she was asking for addresses.

#3- She hadn't nailed down the date yet. People kept asking her questions and she had no idea.

I left that group SO fast lol
