Early/minimoon Ideas Needed

Elizabeth, on June 18, 2019 at 9:41 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 20
We're going on our honeymoon next year, however, we would like to relax a bit before or after the wedding. Our honeymoon will be Taiwan and Japan (I have family in Taiwan and FH can meet more relatives on my mother's side). We're keeping the mini trip either within the continental US or departing from a port of call in the US if a cruise is possible. Any ideas?

What are you hoping to do on your minimoon? Beach? Mountains? We are going to Destin, Florida for our honeymoon for 5 days.

For our mini-moon we are going to Austin, TX, for a weekend. We are doing a cruise as our honeymoon a couple of months later.

Where would you be traveling from and when? A cruise would be a great idea! There are tons that are short out of Florida and also several that leave from NY, Boston. Galveston, and New Jersey.

We're going down to my future in-laws condo (without them) in Florida for a few days right after the wedding and doing the big honeymoon later too!

    Hi Elizabeth!

Here are some ideas for a quick getaway with your FS - What's a Mini-Moon? 6 Quick Getaway Ideas. Do any of these suggestions stick out to you?

Are you looking for a beach getaway? Or something more city based?

We're based in Austin, TX, and any trip we do pre-wedding would be in August. Anything after the wedding is would be before Thanksgiving. I grew up north of Buffalo, NY (getting married there, too). We've gone on city, beach, and Disney trips, and are open to anything!

Anything that strikes our fancy, really. We've gone on city, beach, and Disney vacations (went on one in January right after getting engaged)! Thank you for the article!

Relax a de-stress. That said, we're open to anything. We went to Destin two years ago. The beaches farthest away from town are the better ones if you want to not feel like you're surrounded by tourists.

I would look at a cruise then! We're doing a short cruise for my bachelorette and I know there are so many options between august and November! Or if you like foodie things that time of year is also food and wine fest at Disney World.

We went to Disney World in January and Disney was a popular destination for our family in the pats twelve months-- my sister went on her honeymoon and my future brother and sister-in-laws took their families to Disney for Christmas and Spring Break. Good idea, though!

There's a bridge downtown that with a huge urban bat colony. It's kinda cool to see them all fly out after sunset. Here's a link with a bunch of ideas!

Thank you for the great ideas! Our schedules are a bit more hectic than we thought and we have guests in town next month. It'll be a staycation showing guests around and maybe we'll do something between the wedding and honeymoon to relax and celebrate both of our birthdays at the same time. We'll see!

Thanks! My first trip to Japan was in 2002! Any recommendations? The hot springs, Tokyo, and Tokyo Disney are on our short list.

Amy's Ice Cream is Austin's version of Cold Stone and they make their own ice cream! Phil's Ice House has great burgers! Eddie V's and Fleming's are our splurges for a steak dinner with all the trimmings (definitely need an occasion to go). There's good barbecue almost anywhere-- try The County Line and get their house bread, too!
