Favorite 1 year anniversary ideas?

Katie, on July 8, 2019 at 9:36 PM Posted in Married Life 1 9

My husband and I just got married 2 weeks ago! Most magical day of our lives - yay! I'm such a planner, so I wanted to go ahead and ask, any ideas for 1 year anniversary? Do you think go somewhere special, or keep it simply at home, eating the top layer of the wedding cake? Just looking for ideas! Thanks Smiley smile

Personally, after a failed marriage I think more emphasis needs to be placed on the marriage. So, I think you all should go somewhere to celebrate. Remember to take time for the two of you together even after kids arrive. You should do it every year. Of course next year you can eat your cake to remember that magical day as well. I vote go somewhere.

I always thought it'd be so cute to recreate one of our favorite dates. Or maybe recreate the first date.

Congratulations Katie!! Judging by your profile picture, you looked absolutely beautiful at your wedding. I hope you had the most wonderful day!

I agree with Stacey about going away or spending a special evening together. It doesn’t have to be extravagant or crazy expensive, but you could check out a restaurant that you both have been dying to try, or go away for a couple of days to a hotel to mark the occasion. It’s great that you are being so organized and looking for inspiration, but you will know what is the right thing for you to do when the time comes around!

Where are you going on your honeymoon?

Our anniversary is in a little over a month, so we've got it all planned out! We're going for a weekend trip somewhere that is close by, but really meaningful for us. We'll have dinner at the place we ate the night we got engaged, and just enjoy some time together to celebrate the past year of marriage.

We didn't save our top layer of wedding cake, but I am going to order a replica from our bakery instead for us to eat when we get back (:

I definitely want to go out to a nice dinner on our 1 year anniversary! We probably won't go on a big trip but we may do a weekend getaway to the beach. We are getting married on August 31st, so we'll always have a 3 day weekend to celebrate around our anniversary.

Our guest book was a wine guest book. So we'll be drinking year one!

We've talked about going up to the main restaurant that did our catering (the food truck had a brick and mortar location too).

Our venue gives every couple a free dinner on/around their 1-year anniversary, so that's what we did!

We went back to the place we got married and had a nice dinner on them (left a good tip though) the night before our anniversary.

And then on our actual anniversary date, we ate our wedding cake in the morning, and then we attended our friend's wedding at the exact same venue (they liked the venue after coming to our wedding so they booked the same place on the same day but one year later).

SO we were actually there 2 nights in a row. We celebrated another couple's love & marriage on our first anniversary at our own venue!

And yes, while we were having our free anniversary dinner, our friends were having their rehearsal dinner just several feet away Smiley tongue
