Fondant or Buttercream?

I'm guessing you mean fondant? If not, I apologize lol. Personally, I hate fondant and think most people pick it off instead of eating it. Plus it is more expensive. If you want to provide a tastier option, i'd definitely go with buttercream!

Hi Toniette! Just to clarify, are you talking about fondant icing? I think most guests prefer the taste of buttercream as opposed to the taste of fondant! No one likes fondant. Yes it looks nice. It tastes like 💩 Pick buttercream for your cake.

In my opinion, I don't like the taste of fondant. Buttercream is waaayyy better, but if you're having an outside wedding in warmer months, buttercream will melt way faster then fondant.

Everyone peels off fondant off cakes. It's really not tasty, just looks good. I would go with buttercream icing.

I like buttercream wayyy more than fondant! Fondant is just for the look, not taste. Yuck

Oh boy sorry OP, I’m on the #nofondant team lol. Another PP made a good point that it’s actually more expensive.

Is there a specific look you want for your cake or are you just weighing flavor options right now?

I agree with the above- fondant tastes like plastic to me, it has a gummy texture, and while some people like the look, I don’t think it really looks like food. It’s very clean and can be elegant, though. I would go buttercream, although my personal preference is the almost naked cakes since I’m not a huge fan of frosting anyway

I think fondant make for a really pretty finish, but I don't like the taste. It's almost gummy, and I almost always take it off of a cake when eating it. I prefer buttercream, but it is your preference!

They do have a marshmallow fondant that I've heard is 1000 times better than normal fondant.
But I'm team buttercream all the way. Like yeah...fondant is much much prettier (lookin at you marbled cakes!!) But its so gross and nobody really eats it except your wallet.

In my opinion, no one eats fondant. They peel it off and eat the cake. It's good for pretty cakes or shaping fancy designs, but not eating. We are going with buttercream!

Buttercream, for sure. Fondant is yucky. It just looks pretty but that’s it.
