Hawaii or Aruba honeymoon?

Brittany, on February 4, 2019 at 7:46 PM Posted in Honeymoon 2 44
Hi everyone! I would love your opinion. FH’s family is planning our honeymoon and I am sooooo excited. My future father in law has reservations on hold in Maui and Aruba. He wants us to look at both resorts and decide! The thing is they’re both really nice and I can’t decide! If you’ve been to either, could you let me know why you loved it? If you’ve been to both, which would you recommend? So the flight to Hawaii is much longer, being that we’re on the east coast. However, I heard that it’s worth it!!! I would love to know your opinions! Our honeymoon will be 8 days.

I can’t say anything about the resort unfortunately I’ve never heard of it .. but I have been to Aruba and I must say it’s beautiful and super safe, we explored the whole island By ourselves on an ATV! I believe a lot of the food they use to cook is imported from the US and it was all really good.. but with all of that aside, Aruba is a small island, it’s only 20 miles from its northern most point to its southern most point ( about the same size as Brooklyn ).. so if you’re looking to explore a lot and see a lot of things maybe Hawaii is better ? you can see all of Aruba in 2 if not 1 day lol.. I’ve never been to hawaii so I can’t comment on it honestly.

I have been to both places. I would definitely pick Hawaii . It’s more romantic and caters to newlyweds.

I’ve been to both and I’d recommend Aruba. Everyone is so friendly and the food is amazing. There is a lot to do, so you can either relax on the beach all day or go hiking, rent a UTV, etc. Definitely go to flamingo island! As PP mentioned though, the “sin tax” is starting soon, so the prices of drinks will most likely go up. We flew from the mid-atlantic and the flight was just under 4 hours direct.

Thanks so much for all of the details! It’s good to know about the alcohol going up in Aruba. FH and I aren’t really drinkers so I don’t think that will effect us much. I’ve also heard Hawaii is superrrr expensive with pretty much everything! I think we might pick Aruba!

Would you be going to other islands outside of Maui? We went to Oahu for my brother‘s wedding and I was underwhelmed. Granted, it was a different island and iteemed like a long flight to just get somewhere that felt like South Beach Miami. I hear Maui is nicer though, but take into account if you're just aiming to stay on the resort.

We have also been to Aruba and hands down it's one of my husbands most missed vacations. He loves the beach. We stayed at a timeshare from his parents at Tropicana on Eagle Beach (it had 2 . It was ALWAYS sunny, perhaps rained like 5 mins one or two days. The size of Aruba is comparable to Brooklyn, you can drive around it in a day or two. Like another person posted, ATVs are fun, check out Baby Beach and the National Park, Zeerovers (cash only and super cheap). The Kukoo Kunuku party bus is SO fun ( I don't normally like these things).

With that said, I think you'd have an equally great time in either locations. We would definitely do Aruba again in a heartbeat, but there are so many other places I'd go before Hawaii unless I was going to the big island. So if you go to Hawaii make sure you check out the sites.

Both would be beautiful and you can’t go wrong, but if I had to pick I’d choose Hawaii. I’ve already been to a few places in the Caribbean, though. Have fun!! Super thoughtful of him to do this for you!

Omg Jeanelle! That’s the exact resort he has blocked off for us in Aruba, if we choose that! The Tropicana on Eagle Beach! Im so happy to hear that you enjoyed it so much. If we went to Hawaii, we would just do Maui. Also, the resort his father is looking at in Maui didn’t receive such great views, that’s why I’m so hesitant about it! Thank you!

I stayed at that’s a resort in aruba last year. It’s not on the beach, you walk through a parking lot and then the beach is on the other side of La Cabana Resort. To be honest, the beach in Aruba there is one of the nicest beaches. I have stayed at the Eagle Resort/Tropicana and La Cabana— for the cost difference it is worth staying at the Trop and spending the extra $ at restaurants. Asically evwry restaurant is amazing. If you go let me know and I’ll send you a list.

Hawaii, I haven’t been since I was a kid but I always remember that my family thought that with the time change and lengthy flight 10 days is ideal. It is romantic but it’s Pacific Ocean, not Caribbean. Overall I would choose Aruba, and this is coming from someone who has been to both places 6+ times each.

We’ve been to Maui for 8 days and Aruba for only 1 day on a cruise. Hands down Maui is our favorite place of all the places we’ve ever been. I would choose that in a heart beat. We were going to go back there for our honeymoon but decided to do something different and splurge on going to Greece, something we may not get to do for a while with wanting to start a family soon. I would ask yourself what you are least likely to be able to do in the future and then go for that one!
