How long it takes to register

Stephanie, on March 17, 2019 at 9:10 PM Posted in Registry 0 18
So my FH and I went to Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday to register for our gifts. This was the first place we are registering at (also doing Target and Macy’s). We expected to go in, get a scanning gun, and have at it ourselves. Instead, we were forced to have a consultant follow us around and give us suggestions which ended up making us take 4 HOURS to complete our registry at one place. I know they were just trying to help, but it was really tiring and irritating. My question is: Is this normal?? Is this what we have to expect when we go to other places to register too? We expected to be in and out in a hour to an hour and a half and ended up spending half our Saturday in that place. We really wanted to register for things in person versus doing it online so that’s why we went in store but now we don’t know if we should just create other registries online and call it a day. Thanks!

Omg this happened to us!!! We were there for 3hrs learning about pots and pans and other stuff?! Why?! Lol we thought it was our consultant because she loves weddings but I guess we weren’t the only ones. We did our Target one online after that.

My FH and I registered at target and it was easy, we just made an account at target.com and made a registry, grabbed a scanner at customer services and scanned away. We weren’t able to finish quickly though because FH is so indecisive lol

We did both of our registries online. I’d suggest that for your others so you can go at your own pace. When we were in a bed bath and beyond store, we added a few more things to our registry by scanning the item in their app.

We have an appointment at bed bath and beyond on the 23rd now I'm a little hesitant LOL. As for the others I work at Target and we don't hassle at all you just grab a scanner from guest service and go workers are available if you have questions.

Sheesh! I'm sorry you had to deal with that long process!
When we did our registry at bed bath and beyond, we were asked if we wanted to be escorted or go alone. Of course we chose to walk around on our own and we were done in about an hour.
PP, and for those that haven't gone yet, I would ask if you could do it on your own, if they don't offer. Doesn't hurt to ask!

We have done our all online (crate and barrel, target, and amazon... we’ve also added a few items on other sites but mainly so we can get them ourselves later and don’t forget them lol). We do live in the middle of no where but it’s been so easy and nice doing things online I’ve gotten all the apps downloaded so anytime I want to add or delete or look over the list we can! I’m sorry it took so long I would have honestly been so irritated I think I would’ve said we can do this ourselves thanks for the help though (I’m not a huge people person.. especially when it comes to opinions on things I want). Good luck in things! I wish you all the best and congrats!!!!

It took forever with us too (at BB&B)!! But target was super easy just grab a scanner and go. Only thing is their scanners kind of suck and you have to make sure to scan the right barcode and all there stuff is out of stock constantly. We registered online at Zola too! The great thing about Zola is that they have collections for certain brands like Crate&Barrel so you dont have to actually register at Crate&Barrel also. It’s pretty neat!

We went to a Crate & Barrel event and we were basically set free in the store before they opened, they had some demo stations available if we wanted to see something, and some workers around if we had questions. When we left we were give a gift of 2 wine glasses and the whole thing was free! They even gave us breakfast!

I would completely recommend one of their registry events. I've created a Bed Bath & Beyond registry online on my own. You can go into the store and look at things at your own pace without anyone following you around and add things as you want.

Our BB&B had that as an option. They let us go around by ourselves and ask questions when needed! I’m sorry! That’s a long time for one place!!

I started my BBB registry online and when we went into the store I just used the app on my phone to add things to our registry. I knew a consultant would try and talk us into things we know we don’t need or have a use for.

I didn't have that experience with BB&B, but they also lost our registry appointment. We also registered at Pottery Barn and did that entirely online. I wanted to go to BB&B to feel some of the sheets, towels, pillows, etc. in person. Our consultant did appear out of nowhere a couple times and ask us how we were doing (and tell us we didn't register for enough stuff), but other than that we just took our time because we were having fun together. I'm sorry you had that experience!

Yes it was the worst! The first section we went to was pots and pans and she of course brought us over to the most expensive set first and wouldn’t let us look at the cheaper ones

We did ours online to avoid this, so I'd see if you can do the others online!

OMG! I didn't even know this was a thing. A friend of mine registered at Target a couple of years ago, and they just handed her a scanner and sent her on her way. I guess I thought all stores would have something similar. I'm glad I read this though because FH and I were planning to go to BB&B to register in person. But I don't want or need a consultant hanging around! I'm a big girl, I know how to shop all by myself. lol

Now I know to tell them we want to do it alone. Thanks for the heads up!!

Same thing happened to me at BB&B. I’m still trying to finish it online because the closest one to us is 30+mins away. It’s hard with items you need to touch like bedding, flatware, etc. so annoying!

Oh, wow. We did not have this experience lol. They just showed us how to work the gun and we went to town on our own! That's hilarious... some random person suggesting what to put on YOUR registry. I'm rolling!
