How much do you spend on the honeymoon?

Shanique, on September 12, 2019 at 5:04 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 25

We are still in the process of narrowing down where we want to go for our honeymoon, but is there some "how to honeymoon guide" that we haven't read and is missing out on some huge secret?

How much is an acceptable amount to spend on honeymoon and how long do we go for? I know it all depends on where we go but a general idea would be nice.

Thanks,

Shanique

How much you should spend depends on your budget and your budget only. An inexpensive trip for one person could be a once in a lifetime huge vacation for another. I would recommend going wherever you choose for at least a week if possible. I typically feel rushed and like I don't have time to relax or explore enough on shorter trips. We're taking a mini-moon to Gatlinburg, TN immediately after our wedding. We're getting married the Saturday before Thanksgiving and didn't see the sense in leaving the country for 4 days, so we will go on a bigger trip in the spring. So far all we've spent is $600 for our cabin. We're thinking about taking a cruise in the spring which we're estimating to be about $3500 plus flights.

This is totally up to you. We're spending what I'd consider a lot and we intend to have a 2.5 to 3wk vacation in Europe. We haven't had a real vacation in years.

We’re doing 10 days in Italy and I’m hoping to spend around $6k. This will be the most expensive vacation we’ve taken. We typically do AI vacations in the Caribbean with friends every year for a week and it’s usually about $3k.

There’s no guide. Planning-wise, it’s really no different than any other vacation. It’s what you can afford, and what you want to spend. Then, budget may dictate the length of time you go for, and where you go. There is no standard for a honeymoon— it varies for everyone. The only common factor is it being a “post-wedding getaway”

Depends on where you go, what you do and for how long you want to be there! Our 3 day mini-moon is $500 and we’re comfortable with that.

Originally we weren't going to do a honeymoon, but we came in to a bit of money and decided to spend it all on our honeymoon. So we are doing 7 nights in Tahiti/Moorea in an overwater bungalow (upgraded flight seats), with all kinds of excursions and pampering, for $8500-$9000 total. If you stay in the US you can do an AMAZING trip for $3-$4k.

It really does depend on your budget. For instance we’re breaking ours apart. We’re taking a mini honeymoon to Florida right afterwards. Then we’re going on a 10 day cruise to Hawaii. So it really depends on what you can or can’t spend, time off, places to go.

We're expecting to pay about $9k for an 11 night, all inclusive cruise in the Southern Caribbean over Christmas and New Years.

It depends on what's important to you and what your budget is. We prioritize traveling and will most likely take a honeymoon that's about 10k when it's all said and done and goi g for two weeks. If o hadn't just started a new job, probably would have done three weeks

It really all depends on where you want to go, for how long and the time of year. Also take into consideration with your budget what you are willing to spend on food, drink, souvenirs and random purchases.

We are doing a 10 day honeymoon. 2 days in PR then 8 days on a Caribbean cruise and right now we are looking at $6k maybe a little more.

It really depends on you’re overall budget and what you can afford. We had a $4k honeymoon budget and spent 7 nights in the Bahamas. We also used miles for our flights so that saved is a ton. Still up spending about $4.5k lol. But we got about $1500 from our honeymoon fund and my father in law gave us $500 specifically for the honeymoon, so it wasn’t bad. We wanted to do 7 days because I felt like a full week would be wonderful and relaxing...... in hindsight honestly, keeping it to 5 nights would’ve been adequate and then we would’ve come in under budget. Not that we didn’t have a wonderful time but... by the last day we were kinda ready to be back home haha.

It really depends on how much you have to spend! FH and I's honeymoon is going to cost less than $1k in Florida. We're still planning to have a great time Smiley smile

This is so different for every couple. For us, we spent 7 nights in Hawaii and spent around $8,000. But we didn't go into debt for that and we just saved. I would talk to your fiance on what you can save per month comfortably and decide your budget from there.

I agree it depends on your budget and your situation.

So Im having a DW in Jamaica so I will already be there 7 days but 3 weeks later we are gong to Aruba for 5 days. Since we work for the airlines our tickets were 300 total. Hotel all inclusive is 1000 for the 5 days (airline discount) excursions are 500 for 3 so total looks like 1800 without extra crap souvenirs etc.

We went through Tahiti.com. They were awesome and they allow you to change and add/remove things from their packages so you can customize it. I recommend using the guy we did he was awesome. *******@******.***

I think it all depends on your budget and how much time you can get off work. Between work, money, and the kids, our honeymoon will only be a few days and someplace local. We're thinking of going on a bigger honeymoon on our 1 year anniversary. We want to go on a cruise to the Bahamas
