Popcorn favors or a popcorn bar?

starsinwaves, on September 20, 2018 at 1:03 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 19

This is a totally unimportant thing, but I'm wondering what people would prefer. We are wanting to give gourmet popcorn as a favor. We can either buy one flavor in bulk and fill favor bags to leave at each person's place setting, or we can buy party tins in 3-4 different flavors and just put them out on a popcorn bar for people to snack on throughout the reception. We'd also have sealable bags so guests can take popcorn to go. The popcorn bar is a little more expensive, but not prohibitively so. Plus, it would save us the time and hassle of filling favor bags.

Oh, and there will also be a dessert bar. So there would be two different snack bars if we went with the party tins.

So, if you were a guest, which would you prefer?

I love this idea. I think I'd want a bag to take home kind of like a "Midnight Snack".

I'd prefer the favor over the bar. Maybe get a couple flavors in bulk, then give people a choice of which flavor as they are leaving your wedding? I think I'd forget about a popcorn bar if I was dancing/drinking later in the night and probably wouldn't be eating popcorn either. But it would be super nice at home later!

    Popcorn at my seat!

Snack/Dessert bars are fun, but having it at my seat makes it easy for me to take home if I don't feel like eating it at the wedding, but if I want to eat it at the wedding it would be fine too!

It's also less on your pocket, though only a little more work for you in the long run.

Oh this is a good option, too! Get three flavors or so and let people choose as they leave. I didn't even think of that.

Favor!!! I would probably eat it with the dessert bar but I would love it anyway!!! Why gourmet popcorn? Does it play a part in you and your FS's history?

I'd rather have a packaged popcorn favor to go. Hampton popcorn is really delicious and you can buy them pre-boxed. You can also ask them about a smaller portion in a bag for a favor. We've had them at corporate events and people love their popcorn. It's a step above the stuff you usually get in tin. http://hamptonpopcorn.com/

My FBIL did something similar. They did a bar with 3 options, but had them in small bags. So people could chose which flavor they wanted, could take it hom or eat it then and there!

Not really, we just both like popcorn and have a place we love that we can order it from. We were originally going to do late night snacks from our venue but a) it's expensive and b) people probably won't be *that* hungry since we're serving dinner at 6 and the reception ends at 10. So we figured popcorn was a good idea for a snack and it's way cheaper.

Thanks for the rec! We actually already have a place we love. They also do favor size but they would be $3 (for 110 guests) each and we could do them ourselves from their bulk bags for under $100.

So far I think I'm liking the favor bags with different flavors so people can choose. We can put them out early so people can snack during the reception or taken them to go.

    Popcorn bar!

Also, if you don't already have welcome bags you could have that as a welcome instead. We are creating a welcome popcorn bar at our hotel room and telling guests to stop by when they arrive!

I'd like both, but to tell you the truth if I was a guest I'd prefer the favor bag. My reasoning: If I eat popcorn at the reception and get a kernel stuck in my teeth I'm going to have a hard time getting it out in public, ha!

Popcorn barPopcorn favors or a popcorn bar? 1

I like the popcorn bar, I went with it. I am doing one I have 10 different popcorn flavors, because I am EXTRA like that. It's probably costing me $150. The popcorn we got, we ordered from the place we got engaged at the beach, and it's the same as our last name. It was calling to me! The thing about a popcorn bar and I ran into this, where are you going to put your popcorn, in tins, in jars, in bowls, in baskets, buckets to scoop from? Also scoops, I am ordering 12 from Amazon because they come in a pack and I don't have them. Also I am ordering little cones for them to put popcorn in they're newspaper looking, AND FH is a newspaper reporter! Also can I say I was working at a movie theater when we met? our little touches are in there so those are our bags. Then since I am keeping them in their original buckets, I needed labels. I used chalkboard labels although they aren't with my theme AT ALL because they were the cheapest from Target, I got 4 in a pack. I also made a sign, that says to take a treat, and I am not doing escort cards or holders so I don't even have anything left over to use.

Hi there! I have an idea! Could you possibly let guests fill their own popcorn favor bag with different flavors? This would incorporate both the popcorn bar and the favors! Does this seem like something that your guests would like?
