Save The Dates - Need to Have or Nice to Have?

While sending out save the dates has become pretty standard, you can't forget it's still an additional cost! What's your stance on save the dates? Do your guests really need that much advance notice?

Nice to have most of the time. For destination or week day weddings I think they're a need.

Need to have!! Of course is depends on lots of factors, but for me, it was never a question "if" we were having them!

Depends on the length of your engagement. My sister didn't have hem and neither do we. Our engagement is a short one and we sent our invites around the time ave the dates are typically sent.

It depends on how many people have to travel. We have a lot of out of town/ state guests so for us this is a need to have.

If you have a lot of international guests or a destination wedding then they’re more important, but they’re not necessary.

Nice to have! Definitely if you are doing a destination wedding or have a lot of out of town guests. Especially useful if you skipped the engagement party or social media blasts about your engagement.

Need to have for our destination wedding. We invited friends from abroad so they needed to make travel plans far in advance.

Nice to have if it’s a local wedding; need to have if it’s a DW or weekday wedding. We’re getting married 10 minutes from FH’s hometown but 2 1/2 ours from mine & 1 1/2 hours from our current town. It was a necessity for us!

Need to have! I prefer this over engagement announcements, as it actually gives people a heads up when the wedding will be. Especially important for all traveling guests.

Nice to have. Our engagement is only 5 1/2 months so we didn't do these, Plus all of our guests are local except for my sister.

Nice to have. we didn’t do them. we just sent the invites out as soon as we booked our venue since it was a short engagement and then we have been following up with everyone via facebook or text.

Need to have! My fiance and I actually won a free engagement picture session, which is something we weren't really planning on getting done, but now we'll have those pictures to use on our save the dates which is cool. We don't really have a ton of out of town guests but save the dates are something that I think is a necessity. I always get so excited getting them in the mail and I want our friends and family to get excited to receive ours and it allows them to know to keep our date open, if possible.

I would say nice to have. With word of mouth why do you need them?

Need to have! We sent out Save the Dates in November to give our out of town and busy guests as much notice as possible. I think because of it we have about a 95% RSVP yes rate at the moment having almost 70% of the responses back.
