Sparkler Exits: In or Out?

Kelly, on March 5, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 89

Sparkler exits have been taking over weddings for the past few years as a fun way to end the celebration! What are your thoughts?

Are sparkler exits in or out?

Out! They feel very staged and I think guests feel like they're just a prop in a photo opportunity.

I think they look great in pictures, but feel as though they're overdone. We have decided not to do a grand exit because we want to stay as long as possile with our guests, and that's just more money to throw away. We used our grand exit money for other stuff instead!

I feel like send off's in general are out. I've only been to one wedding with a send off in the like 5 years...

Out. I've never understood a "send off". Like, is your party that bad that you want to be the first ones to leave, just so you can get a photo opp? No thanks!

Out. I honestly don't see a point for a send off unless the couple is actually leaving. Pretending to leave for a photo just isn't something I'm interested in with our without sparklers.

Looks like I’m the odd one out here, I’m looking forward to our sparkler sendoff. I think it’s a really fun way to wrap up the night.
I really don’t care if something seems “overdone”, if I like it I’m going to do it.
Technically you could say most aspects of a wedding are “overdone”. First dance, cutting the cake, bouquet toss, speeches, etc.... but I say that if you like it you should do it.

I love how they look in pictures but they don’t make much sense logistically. We’ll be staying till the end of the party so we won’t be staging an exit. Not worth the trade off for me!

I like them - and they’re so beautiful in pictures.
We can’t have sparklers at our venue so we will probably do with out the send off especially since we are staying the night there and not going to a honeymoon.

I wanted to do it for my wedding but the venue didn’t allow it which I’m fine with. I think the pictures look nice but you need a photographer who knows what they are doing. We are having an after party right next to the reception (like 10 steps away) since I want to have as much time with my guests as possible so there’s really no need for a send off.

Yeah I totally get that! I don't think I'd want to make an exit, I'd want to leave at the same time as all of my guests!

They are very pretty! But we're staying at our venue (used to be bed and breakfast), so it doesnt really make sense lol.

Out. At least in my area most venues don’t allow an open flame and definitely not sparklers, it’s too much of a fire risk.

Overall, I’m not a huge fan of the grand exit. We want to be the last people to leave, not the first.

Out, but I will say I do think they're cute. Just definitely overdone. I am having bubbles instead since it won't be dark enough for sparklers to look good.
