Table Runner Measurements

Sj, on February 20, 2018 at 5:52 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 3
Has anyone else ran into this problem? We are having 66” round tables at our reception. Our venue uses 88”x88” square tablecloths for them. I want to get table runners but do not know what length to get! Most of the ones I’ve see are either 72” or 108”. The 72” would only hang over 3” on each side of the table but the 108” would hang over 21”. Also since they are square tablecloths the measurements of how far the tablecloth is off the table depends on if it’s one of the points or the side. Arg math!

The cloth will have a diagonal measurement of 124". Subtract 66 and you get 58". That means that the longest point on each side will be 29".

I would get the standard 108" runner and just make sure it is placed across the longest points. The drop of the runner will almost exactly match the longest points of the tablecloth.

College Trig finally has a real world application lol.

I agree with Muriel to go with the 108". You can also talk to your venue about what they might suggest for your tables. I'm sure you're not the first the do runners there and they might be able to help you.
