To overskirt or to not overskirt...

Brittany, on September 21, 2018 at 8:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22
Let me preface this by saying my dress has had no alterations and having lost about 25 pounds since I bought it, the bust area is definitely going to need some work and you can see that in the pictures. So just ignore that part haha. These pictures also aren’t great quality, but I was excited to try on the skirt and I didn’t have anyone around except FH and he wasn’t allowed to help lol.

An in pictured part of the skirt that I love is the train. I absolutely love my dress except I wish there were a longer train.

If if I do keep the overskirt, I would wear it for the ceremony but not the reception. I also have a blingy belt that I will wear regardless instead of the plain option.

I prefer it without too. The detail is beautiful and you lose that with the overskirt.

Nice job with the weight loss. You look great! I prefer the dress without the overskirt. The details on the dress are so gorgeous and the dress is really flattering without the overskirt.

I think the skirt does nothing for you honestly. You look absolutely stunning without it though!!! Just my opinion though. Good luck and congrats on your weight loss Smiley winking

Agree! It (and YOU) looks beautiful without -- and very flattering; but I am not a fan of it with the overskirt -- it cuts you off and makes you look very short-waisted, and, honestly, much heavier than you are. Rock that slim-fitting fit-n-flare!

Hi Brittany! I completely agree with the posters above, you look beautiful without the overskirt! Your figure looks awesome and the lace is too pretty to cover up! If you really like the idea of an overskirt, you could possibly wear it for your ceremony and then take it off for your reception as you suggested! I'd be interested to see what the overskirt looks like with the blingy belt!

I'm an unpopular opinion, but I love the overskirt, lol.

I ordered one for my dress because I'm getting married in a church and I wanted a fuller skirt for the ceremony. It hasn't come in yet, but I ordered it from David's Bridal and it should be here next week! Is yours from DB??

I do think your dress is beautiful as is! The nice part about the detachable skirt is you can really change up your look for the ceremony and reception without buying two totally different dresses.

I'm on team no overskirt! Your dress is so beautifully detailed and is so flattering. I think the overskirt takes away from the beauty of it.

I love it with without! It does take away from the beautiful detailing in the skirt with it added. Smiley smile

Thank you! Part of me feels like it looks kind of frumpy in this picture but I can't tell if it's because the dress is kind of bunched?

Thank you! It does make me look short-waisted and shorter in general lol

Thanks! I saw your post about an overskirt and it's what initially got me looking lol. I actually ordered this one on Amazon because it seemed like less of a hassle to send back if I didn't love it and it was a cheaper option!

Like I've said before, I love the details on my dress! My mom said I'm being silly, but a part of me feels like my dress isn't as formal as it should be for the ceremony based on FH's attire. On the other hand, we're doing a Sunday Brunch and the train that's on the skirt may be too extra. Decisions, decisions!

Your dress is so pretty without the overskirt... I personally wouldn't add it.

I love it without the overskirt! I think that lace is absolutely gorgeous. It would be a shame to cover it up.

I'm torn, I like them both! I can see why you want to do one for ceremony and one for reception!
