White wine question

Heather, on February 20, 2018 at 6:39 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 27
What would you say are the two most popular white wines for a wedding?

Currently we have pinot Grigio and Riesling as our choices but we are thinking of changing it to Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio.

Thoughts?

Riesling is my favorite, but every time I try to get it at a wedding they don’t have it. I would say Chardonnay is probably more popular.

Chardonnay would be a good choice. Riesling can be too sweet, and mainly go with spicy foods.

Chardonnay and Moscato are my favorite white wines. Riesling is definitely more popular than Moscato.

I’m personally not a fan of Chardonnay, but it’s definitely the standard basic white wine along with Pinot Grigrio.

I'd say pick your two favorites and nobody should be disappointed: Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Moscato. Athough I wouldn't do Riesling and moscato as they're both very sweet.

I love when there is a Riesling available, but I also drink my wine very sweet. Chardonnay might be more of a crowd pleaser.

I would personally do a pino grigio and Chardonnay, but it also depends on what you're serving for dinner.

My favorite is Moscato; knowing it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, we are making it a Bride’s Choice wine

I would go with one sweet, one dry, but not too much on either end of the spectrum. I feel that a sav blanc and riesling would be a good meet in the middle. If you do choose Chardonnay, go for one that is unoaked as it is usually the oak flavor that most people don't care for about Chardonnays.

Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc

I wonder if some of it is a know your crowd kind of thing. I have a few friends who don't generally drink but when they love sweeter cocktails or wines like moscato and riesling. Most friends don't like the sweet wines

My tongue is curling just reading that. Both pinot grigio and riesling are very sweet whites. You should be offering at least one dry or oaky white if you have two.

I would go with a chardonnay instead of riesling, that is very sweet. Chardonnay is generally very popular with wine drinkers.
