Will you sleep separately the night before the wedding? Or are you ditching this tradition?

Kelly, on January 15, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 171

Traditionally, couples spent the night before the wedding sleeping in separate beds as a “last night alone” and so that you don’t wake up and see each other before the ceremony! What are your sleeping arrangements for the night before the big day?

Are you doing or ditching the tradition of sleeping separately?

Thank you, next (tradition): Something old, new, borrowed, and blue?

Back to the beginning: Which wedding traditions are you ditching?

Yup. I'll stay at my sisters house the night before cause that's where I'll be getting ready in the morning. He'll most likely stay at our place, wherever that ends up being lol.

Keeping the tradition! As of now, I plan to go sleep at my mom's house the night before. We have kid's, so FH and our son will stay at our house, and me and our daughters will go to my mom's. And we don't plan to see each other until I walk down the aisle. Smiley shame

I’ll be either staying at the hotel or the Airbnb (if we get one) the night before with the girls!

We won't be separate. We're spending the morning of the wedding together too and won't separate until time to get ready. It will just be us two on our elopement trip so it doesn't make any sense to have a separate room.

We spent the night together. So did my parents, and both sets of grandparents. If you are already together, I see not point. There is a tradition of people who have never slept together, until marriage, for moral reasons, staying apart. But you do not go back to virgin, or never together, status with 1 night apart. What would be the point?

Mom is insistent that we do not see each other from midnight until I walk down the aisle despite having lived together for almost 3 years at that point, but since she is paying for a heavy majority of the whole thing I think it's only fair that we play along. Our venue is a little over an hour away from our house and since we will be down there for the rehearsal the day/evening before we are just staying at the hotel. I will be staying in our suite since that's where me and my girls will be getting ready in the morning and he will be staying with his best man for the night.

Ditched it. We spent the night at the hotel together and then in the morning we ran to the store to get breakfast for me and the girls to have while we were getting ready. It was nice to have that alone time with him the night before and the morning of.

We will be sleeping separately completely until after we are married so obviously we'll spend that night sleeping separately!

I'll stay at a hotel with the girls and he'll be staying at our house with the guys. I'm actually kind of excited to stick with this tradition. We're doing a first look but the plan is not to see each other up until then.
