Amanda and Autumn's Wedding in Highland, New York

The story of our wedding

Amanda and I had been together for a little over three years by the time we got engaged. In May 2019 we went to Maui for vacation, and I decided to propose on a secluded beach at sunset. We started planning our wedding shortly after getting engaged.

I wanted a winter wedding and Amanda preferred a summer wedding, so we compromised and had an October wedding. We chose my parents' backyard as our venue because we wanted to save money and they have a beautiful backyard. We chose a rustic theme since we both love the outdoors, so we opted for a cake that looked like a birch tree, and colors that were earthy and muted. We both love BBQ so we opted for the best BBQ place, Lucille's, and their catering was flawless and delicious. Our coordinator Laura from Indie Dolls was the glue that made everything come together and our wedding would not have been as much of a success without her guidance and take-charge attitude.

My favorite moment from our wedding was during our first dance. We both were so nervous about it, since neither of us is a dancer, so we were just planning to sway for about a minute. But right as the song "The Story" by Brandi Carlile picks up we decided to go for a twirl and ended up nailing it!
