15 Sep, 2018The story of our wedding
I'll admit I was a little nervous the morning of our wedding as it was raining, but it quickly passed and we had wonderful sunshine for the rest of the day. It made for wonderful photos and we are still getting compliments on how beautiful the venue, was which I feel like is all you can ask for, for a wedding. The day went on without a hitch, the ladies arrived at 11 to start hair and makeup and were served lunch while the boys all arrived around 12 and had the entire third floor to themselves to hang out. After a few hours of music, card games and champagne, it was time to put the dress on, and the reality that this was my big day sunk in. Initially, my husband and I didn't want to have a first look before the ceremony, but after talking to our photographer about it, we decided to have one and we are so glad we did. Not only did it ease some of the pressure of the day to see eachother before the ceremony, but it was a much more initimate and natural moment between us. It sort of reminded us what the day was all about to begin with us. The seven years of our relationship had built up to this commitment and we were really doing it! From me moving to Oklahoma from Canada and meeting our Junior year of highschool, to getting engaged the night before I graduated from university, we were celebrating it all that day with our friends and family. Everyone managed to keep their composure pretty well up until they saw my parents tear up as they gave me away at the ceremony. Our officiant commented that the bride and groom don't get her, it's the parents that make her tear up and she wasn't alone, our whole wedding party including myself and my husband had welled up a bit. After what felt like 5 minutes, we both said "I Do" and we were married! Thankfully our reception was in the same venue and people got to help themselves to the bar as we took our family photos because let's be honest, you come for the reception and the party. And party we did! There were two requests Cameron and I wanted to have for our wedding- one, was a planner to ease the day along and two, was to have a non-stop dance party at the reception that would be talked about for years to come. I think we got close to it. Before we knew it, we had made our grand exit with all of our friends and family cheering, looked at each other and said "what now?" We were amazed at how fast it all went by! They say your wedding is never exactly how you invision it, no matter how much you plan, and I get it now. My feet were sore, we were sweaty from dancing, and my dress was dragging twigs and dirt, but it's never perfect and it's those little details I want to remember because they make the day real. All in all, it was us, and it was amazing!
