29 Sep, 2018The story of our wedding
Cj and I dated for nearly 4 years including an 18 month engagement, as we funded the wedding ourselves. We had found eachother through a dating app and it turned out that our whole lives we'd been circling eachother through our friends and family but never found the right place at the right time. He grew up in the same small town as my dad and I went to a small private college with a majority of his high school friends.
We were engaged on Friday, April 21st 2017 at a Thomas Rhett concert in Nashviile at Ascend Ampitheter. It rained all night. We were soaked. I'd lost the tickets at the gate. We had to run and get them reprinted nearby. CJ got stopped by security for the ring in his pocket. (crowd watching, I somehow didn't notice.) We made it to our seats, to stand in the rain. And a couple hours later, during "Die a Happy Man" CJ managed to whisper truths, and promises, and everything that had laid on his heart about me into my ear before putting his knee in the mud to pull out a ring box. All I could do was nod. He had asked the crowd around us to record the event, so when the concert lights died down for the song, a bright light came on us, and I'd estimate that at least 5 rows cheered.

Even though our wedding was planned for Fall 2018, it wasn't always the bright sun-shiney time we had imagined. In 2018 alone, I lost 6 members of my family. My Uncle passed away from Colon Cancer on June 30th, my sister's wedding day. Again on August 5th, I lost my grandmother mere weeks out from the wedding.
Everything considered. Our wedding was a day of love and appreciation. Our venue, Briar Rose Hill, worked so closely with us to make even the smallest details seem big. Everyone was intentionally thoughtful and just as dedicated to our event as ourselves.
My favorite moment from the wedding was the garter toss. My cousin Hunter waited until my husband, CJ, was blindfolded to put my garter on and switch spots with me. My unknowing husband, aggressivly crawled up his lap and intentinally used his teeth to retrieve the garter, leaving Hunter fearing for his manhood while his chair fell backward. I will say one thing. CJ crawled away with the garter in his mouth.
My second favortie memory, is that CJ ordered cardboard cut out's of ourselves to stand in place of us when we couldnt take photos with all our guests. The pictures are great. The videos, even better.
