19 Oct, 2019The story of our wedding
(First and foremost, I want to make sure that my photographer Nadine Rovner, owner of Heart and Rae photography, recieves all credit for the photographs provided).
From start to finish, my wedding (as well as my engagment) were a dream come true.
In March of 2019, my husband and I went to Sweden for a week, where he proposed to me on a snowy mountain hike in Abisko National park. Both of us were (and still are) elated and began talking about ideas for our wedding day, wanting to be married in the Fall of 2020.
When we flew back, I signed up on wedding wire and immediatly began to do research for the wedding. Our plan was to schedule meetings with the venues and hopefully have something booked by August of 2019 for the following year. Eventually I came across The Inn at Fernbrook Farms located in Chesterfield NJ. From what we had seen online, Fernbrook had all of the elegant and rustic qualities we love and had a variety of packages to choose from to accomodate the needs of any couple. I got in touch with the GM, Teri Lands, and booked a walk through with her. In that time, they had posted on their social media that two dates had opened up for Fall of 2019. I showed my husband and he said "Why wait?". We already have a house and our set with our jobs, plus I found my dream dress by accident at a local bridal shop called Bridal Suite Boutique, so I agreed happily. We met with Teri and booked for October 19, 2019.

Believe it or not I had everything booked and plans set by the end of May 2019. Teri provided me with a preferred vendors list that helped me find the only things that Fernbrook did not provide; a DJ, a photographer and alcohol. As far as everything else went, I made it myself (excluding the bouquet & boutineers ((by Dexin Floral on Etsy)) and the template design I used from vista print). I did my own makeup. All of the florals are silk and from hobby lobby and the vases are from a wholesale website. The vases were filled were weighted down with water like regular flowers to prevent the vases from tipping over. The guests were able to take them home and many sent me photos of them all set up from the way I made them or repurposed into other arrangements. The floral chandlier were all clearance leaf garland from ACMoore. The menus and invites I designed from a vista print template. I referenced that template and made my own wooden signs to match with plywood from Lowes and acrylic paint. I made sure that they would match my kitchen so I could hang them up after the wedding. The french doors were in my parents garage, so I cleaned them and used a cricut to make the seating chart. The guest board I drew and designed, also using plywood from lowes and acrylic paint. I made sure that matched my den so I could hang that up in lieu of a having a guest book. The cake topper my husband and I picked out on amazon. The pillar candles on the tables were lended to me by a good friend whose son ironically had his wedding a few weeks before mine at Fernbrook Farms. The favors were assorted popcorn flavors that I packaged with food safe bags and thank you stickers from amazon.
Overall, I do not think I had a favorite part, other than being bound to my soulmate for life. I enjoyed it all from beginning to end but most of all I enjoyed decorating and designing my wedding day exactly how I wanted it. My husband and I were able to look around on our wedding day knowing that all the little details that were put in just made it all the more special and memorable for our family, friends and ourselves.
