10 Sep, 2021The story of our wedding
Gordon (Trey) and I met in 7th grade at Grafton Middle School. He liked me by the end of our middle school experience but was too shy to talk to me (literally ran away from me at the dances)! In college we reconnected over winter break on a lunch date at a local Italian restaurant. We had our first kiss on New Years Day and then embarked on a long distance relationship. We got engaged at the end of 2018 and then started planning our wedding in 2019.
We had to reschedule our wedding 2 times due to COVID. We originally scheduled our wedding for May 2020 but finally got married in September 2021. However, the weather was perfect (75 degrees and sunny), and we had a beautiful view of the York river. We primarily hired black vendors for our big day, from bridal shop to planner! I also was a budget bride and spent less than $25,000 total!
My favorite moment from the wedding was our vows. We both decided to write our own vows separately but when we read them to each other, they intertwined beautifully. Another favorite would have to be the first look with my father. Seeing his reaction was priceless!
