7 Oct, 2018The story of our wedding
As a graphic designer, it's interesting that I always envisioned the feeling my wedding would have, and not the actual look. Most importantly, I wanted a warm, intimate setting that encompassed a true Colorado feel. In the end, our beautiful venue consisting of rich woods and stone was enhanced with a color palette of ivory, a variety of peaches, deep wine, and gold--a perfect combination for fall near the mountains.
Perhaps the most special aspects of our wedding were all of the print materials including invitations, programs, menus, signage, escort cards, and more. Designed myself, all of these pieces incorporated my hand-drawn leaves and bouquets of violets and columbines--the state flowers of New Jersey and Colorado, where Jesse and I are from. This added a very personal touch that remains close to our hearts.
One of my favorite moments was the first look with my father. A daddy's girl at heart, I remember trying to hold back all my happy tears as I walked toward him. Seeing his proud expression and embracing him at the end of the fourier was something I'll never forget.

Custom embroidered with my vows, "I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine" this tallit will serve as an heirloom in the future and a reminder of our first blessing as husband and wife.
The gorgeous bouquets and centerpieces consisted of dark burgundy dahlias, velvet scabiosa, wine ranunculus, black current tulips, peach garden and spray roses with trailing jasmine, passionvine, and dusty miller foliage. The blooms were unreal!
In my Liancarlo ivory, lace gown, I simply felt like a better version of myself! It was the first gown that I tried on, and I knew instantly that it was the one. Perhaps my favorite detail was the delicate, sheer back with embroidered florals. It was classy, soft, intricate and I could dance in it all night long!
Our cake was an 18" round, 4 tiered treat! With 2 layers of marble cake with white chocolate mousse and raspberry preserve and 2 layers of poppyseed cake with lemon curd, guests were delighted!
My best advice to brides-to-be is embrace rain on your wedding day!! I'll be honest, when I knew it was supposed to rain the day before, I was beyond disappointed that our wedding day wouldn't be what I had imagined for so long. But, in true Colorado fashion, the rain became a gorgeous deep blue mist that gave an incredible scenery to the evening. Our photographers even pulled us aside mid-reception to take pictures in the rain and pitch black sky--I'll never forget that spontaneous experience or the photos that came from it!
