8 Feb, 2020The story of our wedding
Our wedding was held at Stauffer Chapel on Pepperdine's campus in the afternoon but we held the reception just up the road at the Lodge at Malibou Lake. We had around 140 guests in attendance and everyone seemed to find both locations with very minimal issues. The colors for the wedding were Navy, Burgundy, and White with metallic accents. I've always loved burgundy flowers and because we had a winter wedding I couldn't resist the opportunity to throw my favorite color into the mix.
The Church was a beautiful background for our 30 min ceremony. We brought in a pastor from our church and asked family friends to participate in the ceremony including playing the cello and the piano as I walked down the aisle. The stained glass windows reflected the light all over the church and our photographers Geoff and Lyndsi managed to catch the beauty of the sunlight as it filled the chapel.
After family photos outside the church, our guests headed to the lodge, where we held cocktail hour out on the porch and in the bar room. All guests had a great time eating the tray-passed appetizers and grabbing drinks at the bar. We headed into the hills with Geoff and Lyndsi for some amazing golden hour shots in the fields and under a huge oak tree.

Our head table was placed in front of the fireplace with a lovely dove gray table runner covered with candles and floral garlands. The chandeliers had some Moravian stars hanging from the ceiling to bring a celestial flair into space. We took full advantage of their huge 16 ft wood table for the dessert table. All sorts of candies, mochi and cake were laid out for the guests to partake in.
Rob from Vox Djs had the best playlist for the wedding. During dinner, which was mouthwatering thanks to Chef Cordelia and her team, he played movie themes and some rat pack music to keep it light. Once all the speeches and dances were done however, he pumped up the volume and the beats. Our guests loved his music choices and danced the whole night away.
We got to enjoy the heating lamps out on the patio and talk to our guests as coffee and tea were put out for dessert. I cannot recommend Cordelia's team and the lodge enough. It's a beautiful and unique space, perfect for the couple looking for something classy but a little different.
