2 Jul, 2022The story of our wedding
After 4 years of dating, Michael and I got engaged in June of 2022 at my family's ranch in the Hill Country. We spend as many weekends as we can out at our ranch, and it was important to us that our wedding weekend felt like a ranch getaway to our guests. When we first stepped foot on Contigo Ranch, we felt like it was made specifically for us and our special day. The view from the bluff was so similar to the view at the place where Michael proposed, and we just knew this was where we were getting married.
On wedding day, the girls got ready with Lux Beauty & Bridal while the boys went fishing at the pond on Contigo Ranch. I chose to do 2 First Looks - one with my dad and one with Michael. My First Look with my dad was one of my favorite moments of the whole day; we both cried and then couldn't stop laughing at each other for crying. I'll never forget it! When it came time to my First Look with Michael, I was so calm and just overjoyed for the moment.
It was important to us that our ceremony was short, because it was hot outside and we wanted to get to the party started! After our ceremony, all of our guests went down to the reception site while Michael and I stayed behind and had a private picnic. We sipped champagne, ate charcuterie, and basked in our first moments as husband and wife.

Michael had 2 requests for our wedding - a live band and a cigar roller. Danny Ray and the Atlantic Street Band took the party to a new level, and 7 months later we are still getting asked about them! Our music taste ranges from Frank Sinatra to Turnpike Troubadours to Backstreet Boys and they absolutely CRUSHED every song. Ruiz Cigar Rolling Co. was an amazing touch, especially for the men who smoked them out on the lawn while the ladies were getting down on the dancefloor. We used the cigars as our party favors and our guests took them all. We only had a few leftover to take on our honeymoon.
The best part about having our wedding at Contigo Ranch was that the party didn't stop once the reception was over. All of our guests staying on-site stayed up to celebrate with us - I think everyone finally went to bed at 4 AM! All in all, our wedding weekend is something we will cherish forever and I wouldn't change a single thing.
