19 May, 2018The story of our wedding
My husband had asked me to marry him in his pick up truck on our way down to visit my family in Sussex County, DE. After he asked me to marry him it was a little bit before we decided on when we were gonna get married because we needed to save up a little money for things for a wedding because I was marrying the man that I truly loved this time. I wanted a real wedding, not a JP or courthouse wedding. I wanted to be in a wedding dress and I wanted both of my boys, and my dad to walk me down the aisle and to give me away. I also wanted my best friend to be a part of this wedding as my maid of honor because she had been through thick and thin with me since we met in middle school. This was also my husband's first marriage too so I wanted it to be special for him as well.
He told me that he wanted an outside wedding in a field or meadow type of setting and I was having a hard time finding like that on a decent price and where my family and friends all come to the wedding. I also wanted the wedding in the church where I was going to before I met my husband. We also had to pick a date and time where it would not be too cold or too hot to have an outside wedding. I got to thinking that usually, May is a pretty good month because the weather is usually warm, the trees and flowers are on their way to blooming. Well, I looked at a few different venues but they were all kinda expensive and finally a friend of my suggested a state park that I used to go camping at as a child which was a good idea. At first, I was the one doing all the planning and doing everything and I tried to get his opinion but he was not interested he just said I trust your judgment so I booked one of the pavilions that at Trap Pond State Park.

There was no place for us to get changed, my wedding dress would have gotten really really filthy, there really no place to plug in for electricity, and there was no privacy for the wedding. After we saw all of this we both said we can't have the wedding here because of those reasons and also what if it rains there isn't enough room for everybody. I was like what are we gonna do? I already paid the deposit for the pavilion. He told me to call the Pastor to see if we could have the wedding at the church instead of the park. I called my Pastor and he was overjoyed to have it at the church instead of the park and it was much much better because we didn't have to worry about if would rain or not either! I called the State Park to see if I could get my money back but since it was past the time to get my refund back they wouldn't give me the refund back so I lost out on that money!
The week of our wedding it rained all week long including the morning of our wedding day! It rained until sometime before the ceremony was over and waited til the reception was over and we were on our way back to the hotel. We were setting up first thing in the morning when we got to the church, then about 2 hours before the ceremony was about to start I stopped setting to go start getting for my wedding. I know I wanting to hurry an get my hair and makeup done so I could get my dress on. I remember the day I got my dress, I bought it off someone from Facebook. The girl that I bought it off of she had it on a hanger and when I saw I knew that I had to have it, it was so so beautiful. I tried it on and I fell in love with it even more. I had the girl take pictures of it while I had it on, the front and the back and I sent those pictures to my best friend and my mom and I asked them what they thought and both of them told me to get because it looked beautiful. Wearing this dress for the first time in my whole entire life I felt beautiful I actually felt like a princess. I could not wait to put it on for the absolute love of my life!!
When it was time for my dad to come back to the room where I was to walk me down the aisle when he opened the curtain, he said WOW to me, lol. I don't think I've ever seen my dad ever so happier than when he was walking me down the aisle on my wedding day to give me away to my husband. I don't think he stopped smiling that day come to think about it. When I saw my husband up on the stage as I was walking up the aisle it looked like something him all of a sudden with is the facial expression, I guess he really loved the way that I looked in my wedding dress and loved my dress. When I finally got on the stage with him he told me I was beautiful!! He was a little nervous and our Pastor was trying his best to make me laugh to help out the situation.
All in all it was a perfect wedding!! Our wedding day started out to be pouring down rainy day, then it stopped long enough for us to have our reception and to clean up and get all the gifts and stuff in the truck. It rained on the way back to the hotel then as we got to the hotel and got parked and as we got out of the truck and headed into the hotel we saw 2 full sets of rainbows. The perfect ending to the perfect day!! Our wedding day was a very special day!! Just to say this as an endnote God brought me my husband and I thank God each and every single day for him. To those who have had many heartaches many times before and you have finally found your perfect match remember to thank the One who made that special person just for you because sometimes He puts the wrong people there first to make you realize who is bad for you and then when the right one comes to know what TRUE LOVE is and to know what it is to be with the that is in tune with you.
