8 Oct, 2022The story of our wedding
Pasha and I met 6 years ago on Tinder! We saw each other everyday after that first date and the rest has been history. It really does feel like it was love at first sight. We actually had always discussed not getting married and as Pasha put it, 'We were already married in the stars'. But he realized that he didn't want to spend his life with anyone else and if he was going to marry anyone, it was going to be me! I was shocked, surprised, and so excited to do the rest of my life with him.
Besides marrying my husband, having a unique wedding that was 100% 'Us' was my biggest goal. I absolutely did not want to have a 'copy & paste' wedding. We made sure it was all 'Tannum & Pasha' by combining both of our cultures (American & Persian), relying on a lot of DIY, and staying true to ourselves and not focusing on what people expected. Our guests are still raving about our wedding because it was so unique and unlike any wedding they have ever been to. Not to mention, we went viral on TikTok (7M+ viewers) because Pasha's aunt accidentally said a 'Deez Nuts' joke during our ceremony! We're from Los Angeles but had our wedding at Miller's Landing in the San Bernardino mountains so it was a bit of a 'destination' wedding but guests could easily make the drive. This was a newer venue and the owners and vendors made us feel like the only couple on their calendar (Even though that was far from the truth).

My dad created our music-inspired seating arrangements out of thrifted vinyl records and he created our 'Welcome' sign as an ode to Lord of the Rings, one of our favorite movies. Pasha's family designed our Sofreh Aghd (Persian wedding table) which beautifully represented his Persian culture. My uncle officiated our wedding and Pasha's aunt did a reading, which as I mentioned went viral! Pasha's family also created our 'Thank You' gifts which were mini mason jars full of pickled vegetables (A persian delicacy called Torshi). We also asked one of our favorite singers, Joel Jerome, to perform at our wedding while at his concert and shockingly he said 'Yes'!
I also dedicated a little too much time to my ensemble, but hey! You only have 1 wedding day! I wore the pearl crown my late Grandmother wore on her wedding day in 1958. My dress was by Claire Pettibone and I got it at a significant discount because it was the last dress and was the display dress! I also searched high and low for these to-die-for red velvet Dolce & Gabbana vintage heels which I eventually found on eBay.
Truly, it was the best day of our lives and seeing it again through our gorgeous wedding photos and video inspired me to submit them to you! We hope you enjoy them and perhaps share them on your site.
Thank you! Tannum & Pasha
