27 Oct, 2018The story of our wedding
Our wedding was an intimate family gathering of 15 in the Blue Ridge Mountains outside of Charlottesville, VA at the end of October. Having a small wedding allowed us to get creative, and make our wedding feel the most like us. Ours was the quirky, fun, and one-of-a-kind wedding that we both wanted.
We were lucky to have our family and close friends very involved in putting our wedding together and it all added up to a day that neither of us will ever forget. After raining in the days leading up, we woke up to a bright, crisp October morning. I woke up that morning and made two pumpkin pies, then Ryan and I took our time in setting up the seating arrangements, flowers, decorations, and dinner table together. We had so much fun being able to create the space that we wanted, and to be able to spend a quiet morning together before the wedding.
A fire was crackling in the large, stone fireplace behind us as we were married outside surrounded by the beautiful colors of the season. We were joined in a handfasting ceremony, tied together by ribbons of each of our favorite colors. Each of our attending friends and family members held our wedding rings and gave their love and blessings.

It all seems like a dream, but we were able to have exactly the intimate, warm experience that we wanted on a small budget. We are so thankful to our friends and family as well as the wonderful vendor team that we were able to work with.
